Occasionally a GI will request you modify your diet. What does that mean? You can modify your diet by changing the type of food you eat from solids to liquids or more easily digestible soft foods. Suggestions would be soup, potatoes, cottage cheese, yogurt, shakes, pudding, and smoothies. Foods can also be blenderized to modify the texture to make digestion easier.

If no surgery has occurred, recommended positions after eating are left side-lying with the right knee pulled towards the chest(1). If this position does not provide relief, try sitting and pulling your knees towards the chest(2) ​ After DJ surgery, recommended positions after eating are right side lying with left knee pulled towards the chest. ​ (3) Position is not recommended, but does work for some when other positions do not work.
